A Study in Pink, pilot episode
Jan. 19th, 2011 10:51 amAnyone else seen the pilot episode for Sherlock? Watched it last night and wanted to share some thoughts.
At one hour, it's half the length of the eventual production and much more traditional in format and presentation. (I quite liked that!) Different format to the ending, too, one that IMO worked better. The villain was much more believable as a twisted genius rather than working for someone else. And the take on Holmes' sexuality has been changed, too. In this version he's depicted as asexual, the body just being a means to transport the brain around.
"Watson (in restaurant scene, after the '"I consider myself married to my work" line): So you don't do anything?
Holmes: As I said, it's just transport.
Newer version definitely leaves you with the impression that Holmes is gay.
Had to titter at the 221b rooms looking rather like a bordello with the pink lighting.
