Advent thoughts
Dec. 5th, 2011 02:30 pmContinuing the chain of pontification with
nodbear, and thinking about the "if you do it for the least of my brethren" bit. Particularly pertinent today as I've been on a train and part of the journey there was a couple in my carriage, effing and blinding and being generally loudly offensive. I could have happily shot them - only afterwards did a nagging voice in my head say, "they've got the divine spark in them, too".
If we're all made in God's image, if we all have a core of his goodness in us, if we all have the potential to go off the rails somewhere, then are we all alike in being named as "the least of my brethren"? If we've decided - quite rightly - that serving AIDS victims is serving Jesus, then what about child molesters, rapists, murderers, terrorists and the like. Should we do good to them and are we still serving Jesus by doing it?
