At the risk of making myself unpopular, I have to say that "Sherlock" is showing symptoms associated with the worst sort of slash fic/fanfic.
1. "Plot machinations drive everything." X and Y must get together and do Z, even if it's out of keeping with their characters.
2. "You will have couplehood thrust on you." X and Y are friends/colleagues and not involved romantically, but everyone around them treats them as a couple/refers to them as a couple, etc. Until the point where they get it on.
3. And this is the worst..."Women? Ew." There's a lack of positive female characters (with the exception of Mrs Hudson's "understanding mother figure"). Plenty of bitches, villanesses, adultresses, alcoholics, colourless token girlfriends, weak and a bit silly wannabee girlfiends, etc. But good, honourable, strong women? Don't see many of them.
