mylodon: (Ironsides)
Following on from Nodbear's post, I was delivering training this week on The Equalities Act 2010, which is one of my "specialist areas" (LOL). When I was doing my prep, I had a (possibly God given) inspiration of a line. One of the things in equalities law is the reasonable adjustments public bodies must make to level the playing field.

My great line? "The cheapest and most cost effective reasonable adjustments we can make (in terms of avoiding discrimination) are in our heads."

We all carry around a huge baggage of preconceptions, prejudices, likes and dislikes which can affect our decision making process. I suspect that religious people have often sought to justify their personal prejudices in terms of "what our religion says". Note the inverted commas.

So what about, this Lent, encouraging people not to give up chocolate but to give up their prejudices?
