On my doorstep and I didn't realise
Apr. 12th, 2012 09:44 amI didn't realise there was a WWI memorial just minutes' drive from where I've lived the last 20 odd years, until
stevie_carroll gave me a war graves brochure. Not an isignificant one, either, given that it's Kitchener's official war memorial. Have sahred some pics over at
charliecochrane and am sharing more here.

Tremendous place of calm, given that there's a busy road no more than fifty yards away.

What really struck me were the names - soldiers and sailors from all over what was then the Empire. Native South Africans, Indians, Anzacs, Canadians.

This was a world war.
