One last reflection on listening. I know there have been times when I've not listened properly - as mother, partner, friend, whatever - because I haven't wanted to hear what's really being said. Far easier to use my words to superficially make the issue go away. It's when I've been brave enough to say something like "What's this actually about?" that things have moved forwards.
