Advent - day 19
Dec. 19th, 2013 11:10 amI've just got back from being Father Christmas! (No, I haven't got a white beard, even though the menopause means I could probably grow one.) I've been delivering parcels for SCRATCH. I've often helped sort toys or make up/check parcels, but this was the first time I've been delivery girl. Very thought provoking experience, especially when you find yourself looking at the outside of a house and thinking, "Why do they need help?" Then the door opens and you might get an idea. Even if you don't at that point, you can't (and shouldn't) know people's circumstances. Maybe they've been made redundant. Maybe the breadwinner has left home. Maybe one of a hundred things.
What I love about SCRATCH is that they don't judge, they just respond to need.
