Am trying to catch up (and failing, as usual). Had a great week, what with catching up with [livejournal.com profile] nodbear and then 'doing' London. We stayed at the New Cavendish Club (advantage of being an RNA member!), went to see the Ladykillers (fab), visited Ripley's museum in Picadilly (great kiddie type fun, especially the mirror maze) and ate far too much Lebanese and Brazilian food. Never been in a restaurant that had a fish pond in it...

Sounds like a fab week and what lovely fish! I do hope they weren't lunch!

Nooooooo, but there was plenty of chicken stuffed away (ridiculously large portions and all sorts of extra food that appeared!)

The fish pond - a Lebanese restaurant near Marble Arch/Edgware Rd?

Yes! Is this another example of brain twinning?

When I was a student in Sheffield, I remember visiting a bar for cocktails which had a huge fishpond (including waterfall!) outside the gents - the loos were in the basement, down separate staircases, so the only reason us girls knew about it was because the guys came back up and swore that no, they really weren't trying to get us into the gents, but we really should go down the stairs...

coo. That sounds stunning. And why did they get the nice scenery and not the gals?

I don't know why it always seems to be the blokes who get interesting stuff on the way to the loo (there's a pub I used to frequent in Thame where they did some renovations & discovered the old well, so they put a glass floor in over it - it was between the outer & inner doors to the gents). I could be really cheeky & say maybe it's to encourage the coarser kind of gent to actually use the facilities ;-)
