mylodon: (whaletail)
At least I think it's 5. Same number as the Maths qualifications I have and I still can't count.

I struggle with the organised church at the best of times (corporate arrogance - they has it) and this week has sorely tested my patience. Paedophile and de-frauding priests, it seemed like everywhere I turned there was another depressing story. Heart much lighter today after a cracking sermon in church last night, which I must talk about later in Lent.

We've been looking at the qualities of lovingkindness, as described by Paul and translated by the lolcats.

Luv no insistzes on doin it 4 itzelf, itz not pisst off alla tiem or rezentflufflele. Luv izzn all happiez about doin it wrong, but is happiez about teh truthz.

That "not pisst off alla tiem" made me chuckle, and made me think of a great line in "Open All Hours" where Mrs Featherstone says, "I'm not a religious woman, but I find that if you say 'no' to everything, you can't tell the difference." Does the church too often give the impression that being a Christian means being a grumpy, "if it's fun it must be wrong", "thou shalt not ever..." type of spoilsport?
