Aspirant authors?

I don't usually post Charlie stuff here, but having had so many positive comments from aspirant/fledgling authors about how useful they found the UK Meet, I wanted to mention it. In case anyone fancies Manchester 2013 *g*.

Great write up of the 'business' day here and a flvour of the event here.

Always great for writers (aspiring or well known) to get together, whether the full range of categories or a specific genre. I've enjoyed attending the "local" big conference, the PNWA in Seattle over the years.

*nods* There's pl;enty of advice everywhere about submissions, edits and the like but it's at these events you get to hear about things like what to do about your taxes, or how to tackle people telling you their story ideas...

I think the conferences I've been to could use a bit more on the business side of things.

*nods* I was on the panel which did "the pitfalls of being published" and we tried to concentrate on the practical, important stuff! Maybe you could suggest something similar at the conferences you go to?

I'm going to this, I'm Josie Goodreads over on Goodreads and on Facebook. I review books for a web site plus I'm an avid reader. Looking forward to it, I went to the first one in 2010

I missed 2010 as my boiler blew up. There should be a little coterie of Age of Sail fans in Manchester and we can all squee together!
