Yesterday, at Hampton Court. Not been for ages and had forgotten how lovely it is, especially in the sunshine. Such friendly staff, too - important when you have a pal in a wheelchair. Heartily recommended.

Oh I do remember having a grand day there! All the more wonderful as we shared it with close friends from our own neck of the woods who were visiting their son and his family in London.
So amazing, before we left the Antipodes, to say " see you soon" (on the far side of the world), to actually wave to them on the platform as they joined our train en route ("Hey, hang on, these are our dear friends. They are part of the normal scene at home. But they're here!) and to share a pint in the local pub, and a meal in London after being sardined on the tube coming back from our day out. This juxtaposition of the familiar and the different. It's weird.
Hampton Court was, as you said, lovely. And it was good weather then too.
You precipitated a wonderful kaleidoscope of memories with your simple post. Thank you my dear!

My pleasure, my dear. Glad you liked it as much as we did. (And great that you'd brought your buds all the way, too!)

I've never been to Hampton Court but I would love to visit. Every time I see a picture of it I'm astonished how vast it is!

PS I finally got round to putting your birthday pressie in the post yesterday, after it had sat there forlornly for over a week. Late birthday present will be late :}

It's arrived and it's wonderful. I think I sent an e-mail to say thank you, but if it got lost, here's a second one. *mwah*

I have very fond memories of getting lost in that hedge maze when I was eight.

We didn't get into the maze as there's no wheelchair access. But we saw some amazing royal beds. :)
