Been away at Festival of Romance - did I miss anything vital? Like a new series of Hornblower in which Archie comes back to claim his true love?

In other news, we are kitchenless in Rownhams, at the takeaway with slaves... Hopefully it'll all be done this week.

I'm getting desperate. Still, they managed to put together Brian Wilson's album Smile, so there must be hope.

We could write it of course

in a sense NEd and the real Indyboys did :) - although some of them died young too -one in the same JAmaican heat as Archie -we always like to think he ( Philip )and Archie are close by each other in the churchyard there ...

Sorry - was not meant to cause sniffles - honest

Been away myself and just preparing to catch up -so can't report very much but I agree that would be a story to come home to - Archie and Horatio lazing about in later life telling war stories and heroic adventures and the like ...sigh

kitchen replacement I have only expereicned second hand but I gather it to be on the grim side while it is actually happening.

are you having one of these streamlined ones where one cannot tell which door conceals the freezer and which the dihswasher and all that stuff - elegant but i was recently at a friends where this has been done and had to find stuff for lunch while he was out and I think I must have opened every door in the place :)

I know. Like two Theban band survivors (or Agincourt!), stripping their sleeves and showing their scars.

No elegance here. All appliances will be very obvious.

much better - the other sort look eleant but sterile - more like upmarket clinics

Oh, yes. Our next door neighbours, whom I love dearly, have a modern kitchen that makes me think of a morgue.
